Respond to the following quote: "Everywhere she went, eyes looked away. But it was the most visible shed ever felt."
I don't know why Tally says its the most visible she ever felt, but no one is looking at her because she is so ugly.

Tally was looking out the window waiting for the car to take her to the hospital. When she arrives at the hospital, she has to wait in the waiting room for the doctor for a while. Then, Tally went with the doctor and did what the doctor said.

Respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you?
"We dont have to look like everyone else, Tally, and act like everyone else. We've got a choice. We can grow up any way we want.
To me, this means the the uglies dont have to become pretty like everyone else if they dont want to.

Two fights were presented in this chapter. Compare and contrast them. List their similarities and differences. Why did each fight take place? What was the outcome of each one?
Shay and Tally got into an argument in the library about who gets a cetain book. Tally won the fight and knocked Shay over. Tally and Shay also got into an argument about leaving the ruins. Tally also won the fight, and they went home.
Compare-Both were fights
Tally won both of the fights
Contrast-One was in a library
One was in the Rusty Ruins

What does the following quote from the chapter mean to you about the city?
"That was one thing about being outside the city; it made all that nature stuff they taught us in school seem a lot more useful. She remembered now how rainwater fell on the mountains and soaked into the ground..."
This tells me that the nature things they learn in school is now useful. This also tells me people don't get out in nature very often.

Write a one paragraph summary of the chapter. Tell the important events in chronological order. They arrive at the Rusty Ruins. They ride the roller coaster and find out there is a gap in the track. Tally gets mad at Shay and Shay says she is going to take Tally to meet someone.
Find two similes in this chapter and quote them, as well as the page number.
Pg,63." A shape emerged from the forest, a long spine that rose and fell like a frozen wave."
Pg,64. "On the roller coaster, hover boarding really was like being a bird."

In this chapter Tally says, "I kind of like being fooled about some things." Do you agree with Tally, or would you rather know the reality behind everything? Why? Yes, I agree with Tally I like surprises, it makes it fun. Knowing everything would be really boring.
It is interesting to note that whitewater rafting was one of the earliest forms of transportation. It was not only used for carrying people but also for transferring goods from one place to another. However, it became quite popular as a form of leisure activity in the 1980s.
In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called ?Mad River.?
The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.
Private companies played a major role in augmenting the rafting business. In 1956, one of the members of the most affluent business families of America, John D. Rockefeller built a resort that introduced one of the first floating trips in the country. However, it only evoked a lukewarm response. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, exclusive whitewater rafting companies were formed. These include the Becker-Cooke Expeditions, Hatch River Expeditions and Slickrock Adventures.
Rafting was first included in the Munich Olympic Games, 1972. Subsequently, it was included in the 1992 Barcelona Games and the 1996 Atlanta Games. In 1996, the Ocoee River in Tennessee Valley played host to the whitewater events of the Summer Olympic Games.

Describe the Rusty Ruins. What are they? What happened during this time period? The Rusty Ruins are the remains of an old city. There were ugly people during this time period.
Define peer pressure. Think of a time when it happened to you or someone you know and explain the situation in a paragraph. Peer pressure is when someone tries to convince you to do something. My mom when she was about sixteen, her best friend bought some alcohol without my mom knowing. Her friend offered her some and my mom grabbed it out of her hand and threw it away. Since then, my mom hasn't talked to her since.

Reflect on the following quotes from the chapter, what does each mean to you?
"Making ourselves feel ugly is not fun."...... "This whole game is just designed to make us hate ourselves." This reminds me that Shay is ugly, and insnt perfect.
"Everyone judged everyone else based on their appearance. People who were taller got better jobs...people killed one another over stuff like having different skin color." This means that people would judge everyone if they weren't pretty.
" Its the only way to make people equal." This means to make everyone pretty.

Think of another, book, movie or comic in which people use hover boards. How are they used? If possible, post a video of this.
Back to the Future 2. Marty grabs a kids hover board to run aways from his arch enemy Kiff.
Why do you think the new pretties don't come back to Uglyville to visit? Describe their physical and mental transformation into new pretties.
I think new pretties don't come to visit Uglyville because since they're pretty , they think they are better than the people in Uglyville.

How do you define beauty? I define beauty as a masterpiece for the eye to seek.
What would the world be like if everyone was beautiful? If everyone in the world was beautiful, how would you know it is beautiful. There wouldn't be anything to compare it to. So, the world would be plain and boring.
This picture is beautiful because Megan Fox is someone that is a masterpiece to look at.
The picture of the ugly animal is ugly because it is something that I wouldn't want to look at.
