If you were Tally, would you ask the Warden to make you pretty?
Yes, I would ask the Warden to make me pretty. I would become pretty, then I would get the "cure" so I wouldn't have any lesions.

Tally has finally come clean. Do you think she will regret it? Do you think David will change his mind about her?
Yes I think she will regret it and I also think she might not regret it. She will regret it because she was a spy and know Shay is pretty. No, because now she has nothing to hide and keep a secret. Yes, David will change his mind. I think this because David really trusted Tally, and know he cant trust her anymore.

Should Maddy have forced Shay to take the "cure?" Why or why not?
Yes, if I was Maddy I would've forced her. I would do this because I wouldn't want to put up with the way Shay has been acting since she has been pretty.

Yes, because I wouldnt want to put up with all of the lesions. Also, I wouldnt want to have annoying habits. Last, I would want to be myself.

Respond to the following quote from the chapter... what does it mean to you?"Tally thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she didn't even know she had. They were in there somewhere changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."
I think this means that Shay is starting to feel crazy because she is a pretty. I also think that Tally wants the old[ugly] Shay back.

In this chapter a few Uglies go to New Pretty Town to do a "trick."They make the words "THE SMOKE LIVES" with sparklers. If you had ONE chance to post a message important to you, what would it be and why?
I would put " You owe to yourself to be the best you can be, in lfe and in sports."I would put this because you have to be the best to be a champion, and it helps to be the best in general.

The Uglies they met in this chapter are similar to Tally at the beginning of the book. When you compare her to these Uglies, how has Tally changed and what has made her change?
I think that Tally has grown up a lot. By this, I mean that she has gotten more mature. I think being around David has changed Tally because he is older and smarter.

How do David & Tally describe the Rusties? Is it accurate?
They describe the Rusties as dangerous and horrible people.
No, this isnt accurate because everyone isnt like that.
What are weaknesses of OUR society?
The weakness of our society is war. I think this because war doesnt solve anything. I think there is a much peacer way to become friendly than war.
What are weaknesses of THEIR society?
Their weakness is thinking that everyone should turn pretty, and not being themselves.

Find information and a picture about a time we weren't prepared. (i.e. a natural disaster or attack). Post information and cite it.
The surprise was complete. The attacking planes came in two waves; the first hit its target at 7:53 AM, the second at 8:55. By 9:55 it was all over. By 1:00 PM the carriers that launched the planes from 274 miles off the coast of Oahu were heading back to Japan.
Poster commemoratingthe attack, 1942Behind them they left chaos, 2,403 dead, 188 destroyed planes and a crippled Pacific Fleet that included 8 damaged or destroyed battleships. In one stroke the Japanese action silenced the debate that had divided Americans ever since the German defeat of France left England alone in the fight against the Nazi terror.
Approximately three hours later, Japanese planes began a day-long attack on American facilities in the Philippines. (Because the islands are located across the International Dateline, the local Philippine time was just after 5 AM on December 8.) Farther to the west, the Japanese struck at Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand in a coordinated attempt to use surprise in order inflict as much damage as quickly as possible to strategic targets.
Although stunned by the attack at Pearl Harbor, the Pacific Fleet's aircraft carriers, submarines and, most importantly, its fuel oil storage facilities emerged unscathed. These assets formed the foundation for the American response that led to victory at the Battle of Midway the following June and ultimately to the total destruction of the Japanese Empire four years later.

It is interesting to note that whitewater rafting was one of the earliest forms of transportation. It was not only used for carrying people but also for transferring goods from one place to another. However, it became quite popular as a form of leisure activity in the 1980s.
In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called ?Mad River.?
The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.
Private companies played a major role in augmenting the rafting business. In 1956, one of the members of the most affluent business families of America, John D. Rockefeller built a resort that introduced one of the first floating trips in the country. However, it only evoked a lukewarm response. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, exclusive whitewater rafting companies were formed. These include the Becker-Cooke Expeditions, Hatch River Expeditions and Slickrock Adventures.
Rafting was first included in the Munich Olympic Games, 1972. Subsequently, it was included in the 1992 Barcelona Games and the 1996 Atlanta Games. In 1996, the Ocoee River in Tennessee Valley played host to the whitewater events of the Summer Olympic Games.

Define peer pressure. Think of a time when it happened to you or someone you know and explain the situation in a paragraph. Peer pressure is when someone tries to convince you to do something. My mom when she was about sixteen, her best friend bought some alcohol without my mom knowing. Her friend offered her some and my mom grabbed it out of her hand and threw it away. Since then, my mom hasn't talked to her since.

How do you define beauty? I define beauty as a masterpiece for the eye to seek.
What would the world be like if everyone was beautiful? If everyone in the world was beautiful, how would you know it is beautiful. There wouldn't be anything to compare it to. So, the world would be plain and boring.
This picture is beautiful because Megan Fox is someone that is a masterpiece to look at.
The picture of the ugly animal is ugly because it is something that I wouldn't want to look at.

Write a one paragraph summary of the chapter.
Tally escapes from the mansion, and runs into the dark forest. Tally runs from the wardens, and meets an ugly named Shay.
What have you learned about Shay? Is she like Tally? Make a prediction about what will happen between Tally and Shay?
Shay is a lot like Tally. They are both uglies. I think they will end up being really good friends.
